All week long, my kids have asked me what I want to do for Mother’s Day. "Nothing." I have answered emphatically and repeatedly. However, I remembered reading an article a couple of years ago that stated that Mother’s Day isn’t about what we, as moms, want to do, it’s about what our kids want to do. The article had a point. I may want to do nothing on Mother’s Day, but what message does that communicate to my kids? That this life is all about me and this is MY day?
Nope, that’s not the kind of culture I want our home to create.
In the vein of creative problem solving, I asked myself, what if I let my kids take the lead this year? Maybe they would surprise me with something I never would have thought of. I decided to seek to alternative answers to the question, “what do you want to do for mother’s day”, and see what happens.
