On AI and Art
[Author’s note: One of the most frequent replies I receive on these substack posts is that you enjoy the artwork—so I thought I’d take a moment to talk a little bit more about my process and vision behind it.]
When I was about 16, I spent a summer engrossed in a book about programming MS-DOS. It wasn’t exactly light beach reading, but it sparked something in me—a curiosity about technology that felt both rebellious and exhilarating. I loved the sense of being ahead of the curve, exploring a world that most people didn’t even know existed.
That curiosity hasn’t always landed me in the coolest circles. During college recruitment (we called it rush in those days), I remember sitting in a conversation with a girl from my top house pick. She asked if I’d be interested in Spring Sing. I flipped the script, asking if she was interested in computer coding. Needless to say, I didn’t get invited back.
